Everything on Tuluna Bari, step by step. If you have never used a service like this, start at the top and read down.

What Tuluna Bari is

Tuluna Bari is a matrimonial service for Tuluva families. People here are looking for marriage, not for dating or casual chat.

You make a profile, our team checks it, and then you see a small number of people who fit what you asked for and whose own wishes you fit. Nobody can message you out of the blue: a conversation opens only when both sides have said they are interested.

You decide who sees each detail of your profile, line by line. Nothing is public unless you choose it.

Making your account

You do not need a password. You sign in with your email address and a six-digit code we send you each time.

  1. 1Open tulunabari.com and choose “Create your profile”.
  2. 2Type your email address. We send a six-digit code to that address; it works for a few minutes only.
  3. 3Type the code. If it does not arrive, look in your spam folder, then ask for a new one.
  4. 4Enter your date of birth. You must be 18 or older. Other members see your age, never the date.
  5. 5Tick that you have read the terms of use and the privacy notice, then choose “Create account”.

Keep using the same email address every time. That address is your account, and it is where your code arrives.

On a phone you can also add a passkey later, under Settings, and then sign in with your fingerprint or face instead of a code.

Building your profile

Your profile is built in eleven steps. Only the first step and your city are needed to save a draft. Everything else can wait, and you can change any answer later.

  1. 1Basic details: the name shown on your profile, your full name, gender, who you are looking for, marital status, mother tongue and who manages the profile.
  2. 2Location: where you live now and your native place.
  3. 3Education and career: your studies, your work, and whether to show your employer and income.
  4. 4Family: parents, brothers and sisters, and what your family is like.
  5. 5Lifestyle: diet, whether you smoke or drink, fitness, hobbies, and a short introduction in your own words.
  6. 6Cultural background: bali, gotra, customs and faith. Every one of these can be left out.
  7. 7Expectations: the age, height, marital status and diet you are looking for, and how strict each one is.
  8. 8Photos: add at least one clear photo of your face.
  9. 9Horoscope: nakshatra, rashi, birth time and place, and your jataka papers, if your family uses them.
  10. 10Identity verification: a quick check with a government photo ID and a selfie.
  11. 11Membership: start your free access, or choose a plan.

You can leave at any point and come back. Your answers are saved as you go, and the home page shows how much is done.

Answers marked “Prefer not to say”, “Not applicable” or “Not sure” are proper answers. Nothing cultural is ever required.

To change something later, open “Your profile” and choose “Edit profile”, then go to the step you want. A change to your shown name or your introduction stays visible while our team looks at it.

Who sees each detail

Every detail on your profile carries its own audience. You set it beside the answer while you fill the form, or later under “Choose who sees each detail”.

  • Everyone: anyone, including people you share a biodata link with.
  • Members: people signed in to Tuluna Bari.
  • Verified members: only members who have finished the identity check.
  • After you match: only people you have matched with.
  • People you approve: only those you say yes to, one by one, when they ask.
  • Only you: nobody else, ever.

Your phone number is never shown to anyone, whatever you choose. If you want someone to have it, send it yourself in a chat.

To see your profile the way others see it, open “Your profile” and use the preview. You can look as a member, as a verified member or as a match would.

Photos

A profile needs at least one approved photo before it can go live. Our team looks at every photo before anyone else sees it.

  1. 1Open “Your profile”, then “Manage photos”.
  2. 2Choose a photo from your phone or computer, or take one with the camera.
  3. 3Crop, straighten or brighten it if you like, then upload.
  4. 4Set who can see that photo, the same way as any other detail.

A photo is usually not approved when the face is not clearly visible, when it shows a group or someone else, when it carries text or contact details, or when it looks taken from the internet. If we cannot approve it, we tell you why and you can try another.

Photos are never downloadable from a profile, and a copy shown to another member carries their member code across it. No service can stop someone photographing a screen, so choose each photo’s audience with care.

Verifying your identity

The identity check is what keeps this place real. It takes a few minutes and needs a government photo ID, such as a passport, Aadhaar card or driving licence, and a short selfie.

  1. 1Open “Verify your identity” from the home page or from your profile.
  2. 2Agree to share your ID photo and selfie with Didit, the company that runs the check.
  3. 3Follow the steps on screen. Your camera is needed for the selfie.
  4. 4Wait a moment for the answer. Most checks finish straight away.

Your ID document goes to Didit, not to us. We keep the result, not the document, and other members never see it. A verified profile carries a badge, and members can ask to see only verified people.

You need a finished identity check before you can submit your profile for review and before you can start a membership, free or paid.

Membership and payment

Membership opens suggestions, interest and messages. Without it you can still build your profile and look around.

New members get 60 days of full access free. Start it within your first week, once your identity check is done: open Membership and choose “Start 2 months free”.

  1. 1Open Membership from the menu.
  2. 2Choose a plan, then “Continue to payment”.
  3. 3Pay the exact amount to the UPI ID shown, using any UPI app. Scan the QR code, or tap the button on a phone.
  4. 4Keep the note we give you on the payment. It carries your member code so we can find it.
  5. 5Type the last four digits of the transaction ID and choose “I have paid”.

Our team checks the bank credit and switches your membership on, usually within a few hours. You get a notification and an email when it is done.

We never ask for your PIN, your OTP or your card details. Anyone who does is not us.

Finding people

There are two ways to look: suggestions, which arrive each morning, and search, which you run yourself.

Every suggestion says why it is there: which of your preferences that person meets, which of theirs you meet, and what differs. There are no mystery scores.

In search, the results only include people who meet the preferences you marked as required, and a line above the results says so. Choose “Show everyone” to widen it, or open Filters to change age, height, marital status, mother tongue, whether a photo is visible, and more.

  • Open Discover.
  • “For you” holds today’s suggestions; “Search” and “New members” let you look yourself.
  • Use Filters to narrow the list. The number on the button counts the filters being applied.
  • Save a search you like, and we tell you when someone new fits it.

If you see very few people, loosen a required preference. Requiring many things at once leaves very few profiles.

Interest and matches

Interest is how you say you would like to talk. Nothing opens until both sides agree.

  1. 1Open a profile and choose “Send interest”. You can add a short note.
  2. 2They see it under Connections and answer yes or no. You are told either way.
  3. 3If they accept, you are a match and a conversation opens.

A profile may keep some details locked until you match, or until they approve you. Use “Ask to see” on the profile, and they can say yes or no.

To end a match, open the profile or the conversation and choose “End match”. The conversation closes for both of you, you can both still read it, and neither of you is shown to the other again. It cannot be undone.

Messages

A conversation exists only between people who have matched. It opens on the newest message, so you always see where you left off.

  1. 1Open Messages and choose the conversation.
  2. 2Type and send. You can attach photos or a PDF, or hold the microphone to record a voice note.
  3. 3A photo can be sent as view-once, so it disappears after it is opened.

If a file will not attach, check it is a JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF and under 10 MB. Renaming a very long file name helps too.

Never send money, bank details or one-time codes to anyone here, however convincing the reason. Real families do not ask for these over chat.

Horoscope

The horoscope part is there if your family uses it, and can be left out entirely.

You can add your nakshatra, rashi, and the time and place of your birth. Time and place are shown only to people you approve, unless you choose otherwise.

When both sides have added enough, a profile shows the guna match out of 36. You can ask for a minimum, such as 18 or 24, in your expectations, and profiles below it are left out.

You can also upload your jataka as a PDF or a clear photo. Members see the pages as images, never the file, and only if you allow it.

Letting family help

Parents, a brother or sister, another relative or a friend can help with your profile using their own sign-in, never yours.

  1. 1Open “Your profile”, then “Family access”.
  2. 2Choose “Invite a family member” and type their email address.
  3. 3Say who they are, and tick what they may do: edit profile details, add photos, see suggestions and search, send and answer interest, or read and write messages.
  4. 4They get an email, sign in with that address, and accept.

You can change what they may do, or take their access back, at any time from the same page. You also see when they last helped.

A helper can never sign in as you, see your identity documents, change your email, password or passkeys, pay, or close your account. Those stay with you alone.

Vouches

A vouch is someone who knows you saying so on your profile. It shows only after you accept it.

To vouch for someone, open their profile and choose “Vouch for”. Say how you know them and since when. You cannot vouch for someone you have exchanged interest with, and your account must be at least 30 days old.

A profile shows at most ten vouches, and carries a badge once two are accepted.

Staying safe

Block and report are on every profile and in every conversation.

  • Blocking hides you from each other everywhere, ends any match and closes the conversation.
  • Reporting goes to a person on our team. Say what happened; you can attach the conversation.
  • You hear the outcome of your report.

Never send money, gifts or bank details. Meet in public the first few times, and tell your family where you are going.

Your account and your data

Use the language switch at the bottom of any page to read Tuluna Bari in English, Kannada or Tulu.

Under Settings you can change which notifications you get, add or remove a passkey, see where you are signed in, and sign out everywhere.

You can hide your profile for a while without deleting anything: set it to hidden under “Your profile”. Nobody sees it while it is hidden.

You can ask for a copy of your data, or close your account entirely, under Settings. Closing takes a day to become final, so a change of mind is possible, and after that your profile and photos are erased.

If something is wrong

Open Support from the menu and start a ticket. Choose what it is about, describe what happened, and attach a photo of the screen if that helps.

You can see every ticket you have raised, add to it, and read our replies in the same place. We answer by email too.

If the service itself seems down, the status page linked at the bottom of every page says what is happening.
